Dadu chougule, the well-known wrestler of Maharashtra, was born on 1946 in Arjun wada, a small village of Radha nigari, Tehsil, Kolhapur District, Maharashtra, India. He belonged to a poor peasant family. One name in promoting the tradition of spectator wrestling is Maharaja Shahu maharaj of Kolhapur state. And Moti Bagh Akhara located in Kolhapur is one of the oldest arenas of wrestlers. Dadu chougule started wrestling at the age of seven in his native village Arjun wada. And at the age of ten, he entered the Moti Bagh Akhara of Kolhapur. Indian Kesari Ganpat Rao Andalkar and Babu Bere Pehlwan have a big hand in bringing Dadu chougule Pehlwan to Aftab e Pehlwani. Babu Bere and Ganpat Rao Andalkar began to transfer all their art to Dadu chougule by working day and night. Dadu chougule Pehlwan, who weighed only two hundred pounds and had a thin body, used to push himself for about ten to twelve hours a day during his wrestling days. This was the era when there was a small dangal held every week in Kolhapur. Dadu chougule Pehlwan also Participated in dangals and wrestled of wrestlers from different states of India. Soon he became one of the best wrestlers in Kolhapur. And as soon as they saw it, they started touching the heights of Shah Zori.



In 1970, he defeated Bhimsha Pawar from Solapur in the semifinals of the Maharashtra Kesari Dangal held at Nehru Stadium Pune under the Maharashtra State Wrestling Council and won the Maharashtra Kesari Dangal by scoring three points against Parshuram Patil from Pune in the final.

In 1971, Maharashtra Kesari defeated Sambhaji Pawar in the semi-final of the Dangal held at Alibagh and in the final defeated Satara's wrestler Sahib Rao Yadav on points to win the double Maharashtra Kesari title.

On March 1, 1973, in the finals of Rustam e Hind Dangal, held in Mumbai, he won the title of Rustam e Hind by defeating Indian Kesari Dina Nath Singh in 1 minute. At the end of the wrestling, a magnificent procession was held in which Hind Kesari Ganpat Rao Andalkar and Chamba Matnale also joined.

On 3 April 1973, in the semi-final of the Mahan Bharat Kesari held in New Delhi, he defeated Laxman Vidar Pehlwan in fifteen minutes in the presence of the then late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. And in the final, he got the title of Mahan Bharat Kesari by winning over Murari Lal Verma.

Along with spectator wrestling, Dadu chougule also competed in Olympic-style mat wrestling and won a silver medal in 100 kg freestyle wrestling at the 1974 Commonwealth Games held in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Dadu chougule wrestler had a memorable match with Kesari Janardhan wrestler from Uttar Pradesh. Thousands of fans gathered to see it. Both wrestlers tried to prove their superiority for thirty minutes. Finally, after 30 minutes of wrestling, Dadu chougule tried to pull the trigger, but Janardhan Pahlwan stole the wow of the wrestling audience by hitting Dadu cleanly.

On 2 February 1975, the Bharat Kesari title was held in Delhi, in the final of which Mahabali Satpal won on points after a fifteen-minute tussle over Dadu chougule Pehlwan.

In the same year, on 9 April 1975, a grand dangal for the Rustom Bharat title was held in Kolhapur in which about 110 wrestlers from India participated. Bila reached the semi-finals after defeating Pehlwan. Viewers may remember that both Dadu chougule Pehlwan and Hiraman Banker were students of Hind Kesari Ganpat Ravandalkar. In the year 1969, in the Maharashtra Kesari Dangal held at Latur, Dadu chougule wrestler was defeated on points by Harishchandra Burjdar.

In the final of Bharat Mala Dangal, Dadu chougule wrestler wrestled Kartar Singh wrestler in which he could not continue wrestling and Kartar Singh wrestler was disqualified.

Dadu chougule wrestler won the gold medal in the National Wrestling Championship held at Belgaum on 29 December 1976. And on April 16, 1978, in the International Wrestling Championship in Kolhapur, Dadu chougule wrestler faced Rustam Kolhapur Sadiq Punjabi. This match was held at Khas Bagh, Kolhapur. In 1974, the Maharashtra Wrestling Council awarded Dadu chougule the Shiv Chhatrapati Award for his achievements. And on September 25, 2018, Kobharti will award Dhyan Chand, the biggest sports award. Dadu chougule retired from the wrestling profession and started serving as a coach at the Moti Bagh Akhara. Rustam e Hind Dadu chougule did not break the connection with the soil of Akhara till the last moment. He used to go to the Moti Bagh training ground every day to practice wrestling. Although his body was heavy, about 125 kg, his health was very good. He actively participated in the development of wrestling and worked hard to coach state and national level wrestlers. Having good relations with the All India Wrestling Council, he took wrestlers from Kolhapur to the national level.

Dadu chougule had a close friendship with Rustam Yuvraj Patil of Kalahapur. Unfortunately, Yuvraj Patil was returning from a Dangal to Kolhapur when his car met with an accident on the way. And Yuvraj Patil became dear to Kolhapuri Lord. After the departure of his close friend, Choghle became lonely, but still continued to serve wrestling, serving as President of Kolha City and District Training Association and Vice President of Pune State Wrestling Council. stay He often said. That we want to play for wrestling and not to win or lose. In the wrestling arena, he was known as Dadu Mama.

Dadu chougule has two sons, Vinod Chogle and Amul Chogle, while his two daughters are Suhani and Srikha. His elder son Vinod Chogle followed in the footsteps of his grandfather Chogle and became Maharashtra Kesari and Hind Kesari in the art of wrestling. Vinod Chogle was fully guided by Dadu chougule himself. He used to watch over his son himself in Moti Bagh from 4:30 am. He had a great desire to win the title of Hind Kesari. But his wish was fulfilled by his elder son Vinod by defeating the wrestler of the Indian Army in the Hind Kesari Dangal organized in Nasik and getting the title of Hind Kesari.

A few days before his death, he was admitted to a hospital in Kolhapur due to breathing problems. Days passed but his condition did not improve and he went into a coma during treatment. In the evening, his last rites were performed at the Panchganga graveyard in which Shahu Chhatrapati of Kolhapur, Chief Trustee of the Rashtriya Talim Sangha, Bal Gaekwad. Most of the country's wrestlers, including Hind Kesari Dinanath Singh, paid their last respects to him. And the wrestler was surrendered to Agni in the presence of thousands of mourners.
